Barakaldo Municipal Market is far more than a place to do the shopping: it is also a living space where something happens every month. Each month the market puts together a new run of events for everyone, from the youngest in the family to those who have been coming here for years.
Mushroom Month

An informative mushroom workshop with Barakaldo’s mycological society, exhibitions all month and a mushroom pintxo.

The idea behind this monthly programme is simple: that the market should not just be somewhere you go to shop and leave, but somewhere you want to come back to, spend time in and, along the way, taste what you would normally only buy to cook at home.
Workshops for children
The market runs workshops for children designed to introduce them, simply and enjoyably, to fresh produce and the world of the market. From carnival masks to games about local sea species or instruments made from recycled materials.
Tastings
One of the most eagerly awaited parts of the monthly programme is the tastings. It works simply: with your shopping receipt from the same day, plus €1, you can taste one of the dishes we prepare each month at the market. Oktoberfest
A tasting of Bavarian products alongside local ones, a themed children’s workshop and a prize for the best costume.
Innovation and Digital Payment
First anniversary of cryptocurrency payments, prizes for the first 20 transactions and a digital payment demonstration point.
Sustainable Christmas and Santo Tomás
A whole month of sustainable decorations, workshops, daily tastings and the Santo Tomás Special Market with Olentzero.
